Saturday:

Ashton CC 1XI 122/3 (25.0) v Tottington St Johns

The 1XI were in a very strong position away v Tottington in bowler friendly conditions making it to the half way point of their innings 122/3 set to go on and post a big score, contributions from all batsmen but with Professional Mohsin Raza 36* and Tom Rayson 32* looking comfortable the weather unfortunately put a stop to our momentum as we were rained off again.

Ashton CC 2XI 134ao v Woodhouses 2XI

Woodhouses were on top with the ball early doors, a good fight back from the middle order meant the 2s posted a half decent score on the board of 134 good contributions from Alfie Hurd 30, Liam Evans 21 and Aayush Shrivastava 14* again just like the 4XI the rain came over and put an end to the game for the second consecutive week.

Sunday:

Ashton CC u9's 154 v 128 Dukinfield CC u9's

The u9s travelled to Dukinfield this Sunday gone, after a fantastic performance last week v Glossop, the lads showed further improvements, in particular the fielding and backing up to throws.

Bowling, Captain Raheem got us off to a fantastic start again, Freddie White finding himself on a hat-trick also, some really tidy bowling from all backed up in the field.

Batting, a good opening 4 overs from Naksh and George left us on 10 runs, Zach hitting his first ever six in a game along with Shriaan took the score to 124 after 8, allowing captain Raheem and Freddie to finish the game strongly finding the boundary at will and allowing us to post 154 a brilliant effort, not a single run out, loud calling the guys are understanding the game more after every game/session, really impressed with the u9s nice to see their hard work and enthusiasm paying off in the matches.

Sunday Premier Cup

Ashton CC 3XI v South West Manchester 3XI

In a repeat from last week's close league fixture v South West the 3s knew this would be a competitive game.

Winning the toss and bowling first Joel Gordon struck in the first over with a great delivery clean bowling their opening bat. Joel then removed their number 3 batsman clean bowled leaving SW 32-2 after 10 a really good start, they then came back into the game with some power hitting through the middle order a quick fire 39 from Hussain, 29 & 25 scored quickly from 2 lads in their middle order in a reduced over game of 32 overs allowed them to put 157 on the board in a rain affected game. Good spells from Haris Bilal, Shoib Hussainkhill and a couple of wickets for Anu to note from the first innings.

In response, we needed 167 off 27 overs following the DLS score update, Opening bat Jon Newell 42 (22) got us off to an absolute flyer with a fine innings supported nicely by Shoib Hussainkhill 24 (29) left us way ahead of the DLS par score as the rain fell again, following the break, once play returned the 3s went from 70/2 to 84/7 an almighty collapse before a fine innings from Haris Bilal of 24* batting intelligently under pressure supported by Anu 25 (10) who hit some big sixes to get us close before the 3s unfortunately fell short of the total, meaning exit from the Sunday Premier Cup for 2026, a really good game to watch.

Ashton CC 4XI 186ao (29.5) v 237ao Flowery Field (30.2)

Bowling first Young Lewis Wilcox was dispatched for 6 with the first ball of the game bowling a lovely full toss to get the game rolling, vintage Bowl Head...

Following this Bowl Head tidied up his line and removed one of the opening batsmen and their experienced number 3 batsman first ball both LBW, unfortunately for Tray a dropped catch on Flowery Fields opening batsman who went on to make 95 was a tough one to take, moving the ball both ways on a string from those in attendance, he has spent 20 years attempting to wicket keep and just realised he is a better bowler.

An explosive partnership through the middle from Leah & Cain had the scoreboard racing for Flowery before the introduction of Haris Khan 4-68 and Liam Evans 2-24 pegged back the score and wickets began to tumble, Flowery managed to post a good total of 237 in just over 30 overs, a big chase was in store for the 4XI.

Opening the batting, young Mr Alfie Hurd fresh off a good knock for the 2XI on Saturday picked up where he left off taking the bowling apart from ball one, ending up on 73 (41) with 10 4's and 3 6's before taking the calculated gamble to reverse sweep one, that he missed and eventually had to walk, supported by a fine knock from Haris Khan 49 (39) who put in a top all round performance posting his first good knock of the season in this game, unfortunately the lower middle order couldn't quite get us close to Flowery's score, but, a fantastic effort from the lads and a special mention to Alfie for a fantastic innings opening the batting, some really good signs early this season for the 4XI.
